I
spent 33 years with Turner in the US. Almost 20 years
doing international work in 30 plus countries, worked
with Sir Frank Lampl to help set up Bovis in south America.
Germany - absolute horror show, lost $1.5 bn, made every
mistake they could in business, an eye opener!, during
that time Bob got asked to get involved in an internet
trading platform which called eye-to-eye, we made a lot
of mistakes. We spent close to ?50m, changed our business
plan frequently, still on advisory board, problem was
we forgot who the customer was, got rid of the president,
brilliant speaker, bad businessman. Also on the board
of art auction company - buying and selling art for corporates,
spent 300,000 dollars creating a website, tripled the
business, tripled the profits. Most of my career is in
the construction business but I've dabbled in the IT business
and learnt some lessons - learnt more from my mistakes
than the successes.
